Amelia Louise

We are so thrilled to announce the arrival of our Amelia Louise, born after an extremely dramatic half an hour of labor.  8 lbs, 3 oz.  She was born perfect and healthy and we are so in love with her already.  We thank God so very much for her safe delivery.  Welcome to our family, little sweetie pie!

Entering a new season...

We are feeling super sentimental about our last couple weeks (days?) with just this little guy in the house- I know things will be amazing with our new baby girl finally here, but it is such a bittersweet transition.  I have enjoyed the past two years so tremendously- at times it is so difficult to balance working from home and a chasing little one around, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.   I'm grateful every day for this sweet season of life and for the new changes right around the corner...

Baby news!

I guess it is about time I share the news here that we are expecting our second babe, a sweet little girlie, at the end of November!  We are beyond excited and feel so completely blessed.  We can't wait to meet her.

Some of you also know that we were involved in a car crash this past weekend, and I spent much of the day in the hospital Sunday, with the doctors busy slowing contractions that were brought on by the wreck.  Prayer would be so appreciated- that our little girl would keep cookin' for two more months and arrive safely.  We are so thankful for God's protection and provision, this past weekend and always.

Love Love tattoo.

Just wanted to share this tattoo that I worked on for a lovely lady named Debbie.  The dates indicate her son's birthday and her wedding anniversary.  I love how the script turned out, and especially love the picture of her holding her son's hand.  Enjoy!

Lately.

Howdy there! I can't even believe it has been eight months since I've checked in here- see the photo above, if you are wondering why I've been so quiet- taking care of this little one gobbles up most of my time. And its my favorite thing I've ever done in my life! That hair! Can't even count the number of times a day I run my fingers through it, and will it to stay whisper-soft and baby-like and sticking-straight-up-ish forever.

The transition to motherhood has been such a sweet and amazing time for me. I get emotional trying to even grasp at words to describe it. I know everyone always says this, and I never could have understood it until he arrived- the depth of love I feel for him is so incredible and overwhelming there is no way I could have anticipated it. It is almost as if it starts to touch everything in its vicinity, like a spreading vine with little tendrils. I'm so awed and honored to be Silas' mama. Our family is so blessed.

And I'm still working on calligraphy.  And loving it.  Just fitting it into naptime and bedtime and whatever other time I can squeeze out of the day. I've been working on lots of tattoos and hope to be able to start sharing more work soon in this space.  I also have an exciting little collaboration with Kathryn from Blackbird Letterpress which I am thrilled to share with you super soon.

I hope you are well, too, friends! Tell me how you have been. xo

Little Silas.

We are so thrilled to announce the birth of little Silas Nicholas!  7 lbs. 11 oz and 20.5 inches of sweet perfection.  There are really no words to express how thankful we are to have him here with us- what a gift straight from our Heavenly Father!  These pictures are from the day he was born, and I can't believe almost three weeks have passed since then- it has flown by at a surreal pace.  We can't imagine life without him.

walk it off....

Hey there!  It has been so long since I posted in this space, so I just wanted to pop in with a little image of a recent project and say a quick hello!  I am constantly working on tattoos, in between all my other jobs, but I rarely find the time to post pictures of them.  Just wanted to share this recent image- I love the sentiment behind it, and that it is literally tattooed on her foot.
I'm busy wrapping up lots of projects, as we are expecting our baby to arrive in just a couple weeks- so exciting!  I have a lot of inspiring, beautiful jobs I've been working on lately, so I'll try to post again soon with some more images.  Hope everyone out there is well!

Litterae + Valentines

I'm so ecstatic to share some big news with you! Today I have launched my own little online shop called Litterae, which means "letterforms" in Latin. As my husband teaches Latin, this seemed like the perfect name! I will be selling custom valentines until February 7th, and then will be adding an edited line of stationery products later in the spring. I'm beyond excited about this new venture, and was so thrilled to be able to finally share it here on the blog.
More about the valentines! My darling friend brought me back a stack of old french letters when she came back from visiting Paris this winter, and that is what inspired the theme for the valentine project. The custom valentines include a note scribed in jet-black calligraphy on the back of vintage 1920s postcards from Paris. They are mailed in cream-colored envelopes, lined in handcut, handmade, marbled yellow paper from Bangladesh. The envelopes are sealed with a swath of gold washi tape, and then the whole thing is mailed to the recipient with vintage postage stamps. If your handwriting leaves much to be desired, or you just want to forgo the traditional card route, this is a wonderful solution for you!
The valentines will only be on sale until February 7th, so don't hesitate to snap one up because quantities are limited.

A big thank you to Grace Bonney for her post on Design Sponge this morning!
